Banana Bread Cinnamon Rolls

This recipe yields 9 generous rolls.

Ingredients
For the Dough:

¾ cup warm whole milk (about 110°F / 43°C)

2 ¼ tsp (1 standard packet) instant or active dry yeast

¼ cup granulated sugar

1 large egg, at room temperature

½ cup very ripe mashed banana (about 1 large banana)

3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted and cooled

1 tsp vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting

1 tsp ground cinnamon

½ tsp salt

For the Filling:

½ cup unsalted butter, very soft (almost melted)

⅔ cup packed light brown sugar

2 tsp ground cinnamon

¼ tsp ground nutmeg (optional, but recommended)

½ cup finely chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
